Phoebee's First Birthday

Sometimes it's really hard to imagine that it's now been over a year since we were blessed with this little miracle of ours. Time flies when you're having fun, and she's SO MUCH fun. She's walking everywhere now, and when people see her walking they remark "she's so little - should she be walking?" Let's face it, she's still a petite little thing. She has 4 teeth right now, and when she does her "super cheese" smile, it just melts your heart.

I felt a lot of pressure to throw our little bug a fantastic party, after all, we waited 10 long years for her to get here. I think that what envisioned didn't translate into what really happened, but I was very happy with the outcome, nonetheless. It's funny the things that we put ourselves through for one day each year, knowing that she'll never remember it. But I know I will. We did a lady bug themed party, bright pink, bright green and black.

To put into words the feelings of joy that she's brought to our lives and the love that we have for this little girl is an impossibility. Having her here, and watching her learn and grow is the greatest thing that we have ever experienced. Thank you to those family members and friends who came to celebrate her special day with her. Happy Birthday Phoebee! We love you so much!

Here are some pictures from her day:

Here is her own little cake - later to be demolished!!!

So this is what I was referring to above....when you have these awesome ideas in your head, and they don't end up being exactly what you wanted. I thought I'd be creative and do a cupcake cake in the shape of a lady bug - on a huge leaf. It broke my heart when the frosting didn't set up and was super runny and the homemade cupcakes ended up tasting like cornbread (love cornbread, but not cornbread topped with frosting - WAS NOT expecting that outcome). I didn't have time to fix it by the time that everyone showed up. But you get the general idea....right?

Singing to Phoebee and trying to coax her to blow the candle out - we practiced and everything, but I think the pressure of the moment got to her ;).

Starting to dig into the cake.....

yummmmmmm

Papa Ellsworth helped her out by putting the final touches (of frosting) on her nose. She didn't quite know what to do about that.

Declan and Halle talking it up while they eat - future couple in the making????? ;)

Pretty Macy - wouldn't keep her head band on - good thing her momma got a shot of it before she pulled it off.

Had the kids make fruit loop bracelets and necklaces to munch on

Chris and happy Addi

Halle loved the cupcakes - glad someone did, because we were left with 30+ by the time everyone when home. Watching her was the funniest thing. She literally gulped them down, and I don't know if she even attempted to chew the cupcake.

Andy still sleeping.....I couldn't help but take some pictures.
